POPIA

Privacy policy

Turning Point Solutions (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for the personal information you send us. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

Only what you give us. When you email or telephone us we collect your name, your email address and telephone number, your company or scheme name if you mention it, and the content of your enquiry.

This website has no forms and collects nothing automatically. We do not ask for identity numbers or banking details by email, and we do not buy or sell contact lists.

Why we collect it, and on what basis

We use your information for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry and, if you become a client, to provide the services you have asked for. We process it on the basis of your consent in contacting us, and thereafter on the basis of performing our engagement with you. We will not use your details for marketing without asking you separately.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only where it is necessary to do the work you have engaged us for, or where the law requires it — for example with attorneys when an account is handed over for collection, with the Community Schemes Ombud Service when a matter is lodged, or with the trustees of the body corporate whose scheme we administer.

Our email and website providers process information on our behalf as operators, and are required to keep it confidential and secure.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become engagements are kept only as long as needed to deal with them, and are then deleted. Records relating to client work are kept for as long as the law requires us to retain financial and business records, and no longer.

How we protect it

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to keep your information safe: access is limited to the people who need it to do the work, and information is stored in password-protected systems. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify you and the Information Regulator if a compromise occurs, as POPIA requires.

Your rights as a data subject

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you, and request a copy
  • Ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, or obtained unlawfully
  • Withdraw your consent to us processing your information, where consent is the basis we rely on
  • Object to processing on reasonable grounds
  • Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we have not handled your information lawfully

We will respond to any request within a reasonable time. There is no charge for making a request, although a fee may apply to producing copies of records.

Cookies

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and loads no third-party scripts or fonts. If we add analytics in future, this policy will be updated first.
